W.A.P. Worldwide Antarctic Program

February  2024 marks the  21^st edition of the Antarctic Activity Week  (AAW) launched by WAP (Worldwide Antarctic Program).  The 2024 edition will last from Febr. 18 till Feb.25.
Invitation, is  addressed  to all Radio Amateurs (OMs & SWLs) around the world, to the Clubs and Organizations as well as other important groups, Radio Clubs and  individual operators who would like to join and share with us, this initiative.

Hams can use Special Prefixes recalling Antarctica as for example II6ANT, IR8ANT, IR2ANT, TM…ANT, DL…ANT, UA…South Pole, ZX…ANT, KK…ANT, VK….AAW, VX…WAP  and so on. No rules have been made but all the special Prefix will be given a related WAP-reference number which can be used to achieve the WAP Awards.
Nobody will have to give progressive numbers, nothing at all, just working and log,  as DX stile. In other words, any kind of Special  Prefixes recalling Antarctica someway can join the event.

As known, the main purpose of the A.A.W. is to increase worldwide interest around Antarctic Continent and its related  matters,  with the aim of staying close to the researchers and personnel  who are spending their time away from home and families,  studying the Antarctic life and its secrets. Additional purpose is  to share what  Nations and Organizations are doing to protect this still non contaminated corner of the world, to share a message of peace WW.

Again our intention is to draw the attention to the Antarctic Continent;  AAW is the unique event WW where Hams wish to celebrate and improve Worldwide interest around it.
To any new Special Callsign joining the AAW will be given a related WAP Reference number, while the stations that have participated in previous years,  can use the WAP reference already assigned.

Février 2024 marque la  21^ère édition de la Semaine d’activité en Antarctique (AAW ) lancé par WAP (Antarctique mondial Programme). L’édition 2024 durera du 1er février au 1er février. Du 18 au 25 février.
L’invitation est adressée à tous les radioamateurs (OM et SWL) du monde entier, aux clubs et organisations ainsi qu’à d’autres groupes importants, clubs de radio et opérateurs individuels qui souhaitent rejoindre et partager avec nous cette initiative.

Les jambons peuvent utiliser des Préfixes spéciaux rappelant l’Antarctique comme par exemple II6ANT, IR8ANT, IR2ANT, TM…ANT, DL…ANT, UA…Pôle Sud, ZX…ANT, KK…ANT strong>, VK….AAW, VX…WAP  et ainsi de suite. Aucune règle n’a été établie, mais tous les préfixes spéciaux recevront un numéro de référence WAP associé qui pourra être utilisé pour obtenir les WAP Awards.
Personne n’aura à donner de chiffres progressifs, rien du tout, il suffit de travailler et de se connecter, comme le style DX. En d’autres termes, tout type de préfixes spéciaux rappelant l’Antarctique peut rejoindre l’événement.

Comme on le sait, l’objectif principal de l’A.A.W. est d’accroître l’intérêt mondial pour le continent Antarctique et ses questions connexes, dans le but de rester proche des chercheurs et du personnel qui passent leur temps loin de chez eux et de leurs familles. , étudier la vie en Antarctique et ses secrets. L’objectif supplémentaire est de partager ce que les nations et les organisations font pour protéger cette partie du monde encore non contaminée, pour partager un message de paix WW.

Une fois de plus, notre intention est d’attirer l’attention sur le continent Antarctique ; AAW est l’événement unique WW où les Hams souhaitent célébrer et accroître l’intérêt mondial autour de lui.
Tout nouvel indicatif spécial rejoignant l’AAW recevra un numéro de référence WAP associé, tandis que les stations qui ont participé au cours des années précédentes pourront utiliser la référence WAP déjà attribuée.AAW /p>
