One of the little extras for the trip was to get a special event call sign. ZL9CNB – The ZL9 prefix is specific for the Auckland Sub-Antarctic Islands. As there are no permanent residents on these islands, the ZL9 call is seldom heard and only if Hams mount special expeditions – from memory there was an attempt about 7 years ago and they were unable to operate as they couldn’t get here because of the weather.
MARCH 4, 2019 – Earlier today (0830z), ZL9CNB/MM was spotted on the DX clusters. This is Dr Charles Bradfield from Auckland, New Zealand who is currently sailing in a yacht (SV Vingilot) offshore Auckland Island near to Enderby Island OC-074. He has special permission to visit the Auckland Islands but as yet it’s unknown if he will land and QRV. Track the yacht here.

L’un des petits extras du voyage consistait à obtenir un indicatif d’événement spécial. ZL9CNB – Le préfixe ZL9 est spécifique aux îles sub-antarctiques d’Auckland. Comme il n’ya pas de résidents permanents sur ces îles, l’appel ZL9 est rarement entendu et seulement si Hams organise des expéditions spéciales – de mémoire, il ya eu une tentative il y a environ 7 ans et ils ont été incapables de fonctionner car ils ne pouvaient pas arriver ici à cause du Météo.
4 MARS 2019 – Plus tôt dans la journée (08h30), ZL9CNB / MM a été repéré sur les clusters DX. C’est le Dr Charles Bradfield d’Auckland, en Nouvelle-Zélande, qui navigue actuellement dans un yacht (SV Vingilot) au large de l’île d’Auckland, près de Enderby Island OC-074. Il a la permission spéciale de visiter les îles Auckland mais on ne sait pas encore s’il atterrira et QRV. Suivre le yacht ICI.
