Une éruption solaire de classe X inhabituellement puissante a éclaté de la surface du soleil dimanche, provoquant des pannes de radio dans l’ouest des États-Unis et l’océan Pacifique. L’éruption solaire a été crachée
à 23h14 UT (19h14 HE) de la tache solaire AR3354, une grande tache solaire qui avait développé un champ magnétique «bêta-gamma-delta» amorcé avec suffisamment d’énergie pour produire ce type de puissant rayonnement solaire
éclater. Les rayons X de l’éruption solaire ont ionisé la haute atmosphère, entraînant une profonde panne de radio à ondes courtes dans l’ouest des États-Unis, les marins et les opérateurs radioamateurs ayant peut-être
